Chemical Description

  • Sodium Diethyl Dithiocarbamate is a white crystalline powder, soluble in water and decomposed in an acid mediator solution.
  • It is an effective collector for copper, lead, antimonite and other sulfide minerals with better collection than xanthate and dithiophosphate.
  • If it is used in flotation under high alkali conditions, it can improve the separation flotation effect between lead and zinc with little or no cyanide.
  • SDEC is used as a chelating agent to bind and remove heavy metals, such as copper, from the body.
  • It is particularly used in treating heavy metal poisoning and conditions like Wilson's disease, which involves excess copper accumulation.
  • It has antioxidant properties and can be used to protect against oxidative stress in certain medical conditions.
  • SDEC is used as an accelerator in the vulcanization process of rubber, enhancing the properties of the final product.
  • It is used in the mining industry, in the flotation process to aid in the separation of ores. It acts as a collector for certain types of metal sulfides.
  • It can be used in wastewater treatment to precipitate heavy metals, thereby helping in the removal of toxic substances from industrial effluents.
  • Sodium Diethyl Dithiocarbamate and its derivatives are used in agriculture as fungicides to protect crops from fungal infections.
  • It is used in various biochemical assays and research protocols to study enzyme activities and other cellular processes.
  • In analytical chemistry, SDEC is employed to detect and quantify the presence of metal ions.
  • It forms complexes with metals, making it easier to measure them using various analytical techniques.
  • SDEC should be stored in cool and dry places, protected from damp, torrid sunlight and fire.
  • Its aqueous solutions decompose slowly, and when heated to decomposition, it emits very toxic fumes of NOX, so(x) and sodium oxide (na2o).
  • It is available in 25 Kg bags or as a customer requirement.
