Chemical Description
- From Biochemistry perspective, it Reacts with, and inactivates, the sulfhydryl groups of amino acids and enzymes of fungal cells, resulting in disruption of lipid metabolism, respiration and production of ATP.
- Mode of action is Broad-spectrum, non-systemic fungicide with protective action.
- Control of many fungal diseases in a wide range of field crops, fruit, nuts, vegetables, ornamentals, etc.
- More frequent uses include control of early and late blights (Phytophthora infestans and Alternaria solani) of potatoes and tomatoes; downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola) and black rot (Guignardia bidwellii) of vines; downy mildew (Pseudoperonospora cubensis) of cucurbits; scab (Venturia inaequalis) of apples; Sigatoka (Mycosphaerella) of bananas; and melanose (Diaporthe citri) of citrus. Typical application rates are 1500-2000 g/ha.
- Used for foliar application or as a seed treatment.
- It is Not compatible with oxidizing agents or acids.
- Mancozeb is a fungicide of the ethylene-bis-dit-hiocarbamate group. It is present in Rondo-M with pyrifenox.
- Occupational exposure occurs mainly in agricultural workers, in vineyard workers or in florists.
- Mancozeb is a mixture of Maneb (M163500) and Zineb, a manganese and zinc (1:1) complex mixture with the ethylene bis(dithiocarbamate) anionic ligand.
- Mancozeb is a foliate fungicide used to protect crops in agriculture. Mancozeb has a broader and more effective fungicidal activity than either of its components on their own.
- Mancozeb also significantly enhances the copper activity against several bacteriosis.
- Mancozeb is a contact fungicide that provides protection against a wide variety of fungal diseases (including rots, leaf spot, blight, rust, downy mildew, scab, etc.) in field crops, fruits, vines, vegetables, ornamentals, potatoes, turf, berries, rice, citrus and cereals. Mancozeb is a mixture containing zineb and maneb as active ingredients.
- Fungicide: Mancozeb is used to control a wide variety of fungal diseases, including potato blight, leaf spot, scab (on apples and pears), and rust (on roses).
- It is used on fruits, vegetables, nuts and field crops, and many more. It is also used as a seed treatment of cotton, potatoes, corn, safflower, sorghum, peanuts, tomatoes, flax, and cereal grains.
