Chemical Description
- Monopotassium is an inorganic compound that is colorless to white and is in the form of crystalline powder.
- It is an odorless and tasteless inorganic compound with a density of 2.338 and is stabilizing in air.
- MKP is widely used in the food industry as a buffering agent, chelating agent, yeast, flavoring agent, nutrient supplement, fermentation agent, swelling agent, and many other purposes.
- It is a stable compound and should be stored at ambient temperature in dry and well-ventilated areas.
- When added to potatoes, it maintains the natural white color of cooked potatoes.
- It plays a major role in binding and texturizing delicatessen meats.
- It adds minerals and improves the flavor of food and beverages by different methods.
- It is the best leavening agent and is used in bakery items and snacks.
- It is easily soluble in water and insoluble in ethanol.
- Its excellent solubility in water makes it a perfect compound for use in water treatment.
- If heated below 100℃, it can dissolve in crystal water and convert to monohydrate salt. When heated to 100℃, it will lose crystal water and change to anhydrous substances, which will become sodium metaphosphate if continued to be heated.
- It has two essential nutrients for plant growth: phosphorus and potassium, which is why it is used in fertilizers. When soil pH needs to be adjusted, fertilizers containing MKP are used.
- It is used as a buffering agent in pharmaceuticals and food industries where it is important to maintain certain pH levels. This is important in products where shelf life and stability are a major concern.
- It is a component in some fire extinguishers, and when sprayed, it reacts with heat and releases water.
- It is used as a reagent in chemical reactions which require phosphorus and potassium ions.
- It is available in 25 Kg propylene or polyethylene or paper bags with dimensions 85X55X0.5 cm.
