  • LABSA is an anionic surfactant whose molecules are characterized by a hydrophilic and a hydrophobic group.
  • This nonvolatile, honey-brown, sticky liquid is synthesized through the process of sulfonation, which includes the reagents sulfuric acid, chlorosulfonic acid, sulfamic acid, and diluted sulfur trioxide.
  • It is the world's largest-volume synthetic surfactant, which includes the various salts of sulfonated alkylbenzenes.
